Head of Design by Lyle XOX
May 9 - July 5
This exhibition features photo documentation of a remarkable series of extravagant, innovative and meaningful mixed media self portraits. Lyle XOX creates an otherworldly space someplace between fine art and fashion; “make-up” and mixed media collage. Utilizing an absurd combination of high-end refuse such as products donated by Moschino to empty egg cartons, or turkey bones from his family’s Thanksgiving dinner Lyle transforms the “garbage” to a performance of beauty, mystery and resolve. Head of Design is also the story of how a young guy from small-town Wymark, Saskatchewan grows to become an internationally renowned make-up artist working around the globe, including New York City, Japan, London, Italy, etc. With over 150 000 followers on Instagram Lyle now receives “garbage” from all of the world.
Lyle grew up caring about the environment, and this care is evident in his work. 100% of the items he uses to create his “looks” are recycled. His art reminds us to slow down, look closer, be creative and original with a brush of flair.
