Pottery at the Landing

Join us for a series of pottery workshops and pit-firings at the Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park this summer!

July 1, 2026,

11 am – 4 pm

Kick off your summer with a bonfire at Cottonwood Beach!
Join local artist Jay Kimball to learn about the pit-firing process, see how clay is transformed by the flames, and make your own piece of handmade pottery to be fired in the beach bonfire event later this summer!
This free event is come-and-go, and all are welcome! The fire will be packed at 11 am, lit at noon, and pottery pieces will be pulled from the coals starting around 3 pm.
Presented by Art Gallery of Swift Current with support from Saskatchewan Park and Recreation, Sask Lotteries, and Sask Landing Provincial Park.

Make your own pottery!
Throughout afternoons in July, find Jay in the park to try your hand at making clay creations for the bonfire in August. He’ll be set up at the public beaches, Goodwin House, and on Fridays, at the Farmer’s Market – watch for a sandwich board sign indicating his location within the park!

This participatory event will invite anyone interested to help load the pottery into the bonfire pit for firing, starting at 11 am. The bonfire will be lit at noon, and pottery pieces will be pulled from the coals between 3 to 4 pm. Anyone who made a piece in July gets to take theirs home!
