Classes with less than the minimum number of registrations required will be cancelled 3-5 days before the start date.

If a class is full, please sign up for the waitlist. AGSC will always try to run an additional class if there is enough interest!

PLEASE NOTE – Prices are calculated based on the cost of materials, instructor fees and admin costs. All art materials are included in the class fee.

Children & Youth

Imagination Station (ages 2-11)

Learn the fundamentals of drawing, from value, form, line, and more. Test a variety of drawing materials (Graphite, charcoal, inks, and more!) and break down the process involved in historical examples.

Intermediate to Advanced Pottery on the Wheel (ages 16 to adult)

For those who have taken more than one pottery course! Participants will focus on using the pottery wheel while incorporating some hand-building and glazing techniques. Participants will learn how to centre and reproduce shapes with confidence.

For those who are new to working with clay. Participants will be introduced to clay as a material and learn several techniques for creating objects with it. In this course, you can expect to learn how to make and finish basic shapes. We will use the pottery wheel, slab roller, and extruder, as well as a variety of hand-forming techniques.

Printing Linocut Designs (ages 12 to adult)

A beginner-friendly workshop that introduces participants to linocut printmaking. Participants will learn to design and carve rubber lino blocks to create unique art prints, greeting cards, and more!

Learn to set up a frame-style tapestry loom and make a basic wall-hanging tapestry in this weekend workshop. Participants will learn weaving techniques and add embellishments to create a unique hanging tapestry.

Glazed and Confused: Intro to Glazes and Surfaces (ages 16 to adult)

In this workshop, participants will learn how to mix and apply glazes with a variety of techniques. We will provide test tiles and pieces to practice on.

Mixed Media Landscape (ages 6-10)

Create a layered landscape artwork using a combination of collage, paint, and drawing. Participants will explore texture, colour, and composition to create a vibrant and imaginative scene!

A beginner-friendly workshop that will introduce participants to the art of gel plate printmaking. Participants will learn 3 different printing techniques.

 

We will play with found and organic shapes, and mark making tools and objects to create a one off series of handmade prints. Use them as a stand-alone artwork to frame or as part of a larger piece.

Bring your art project and get some work done while spending time with other artists! We encourage you to bring your own materials, though we have a selection of mixed media materials freely available for use, along with standing and tabletop easels, drawing boards, and cleaning materials. Open to artists of all skill levels. An art gallery staff member will be present, but there will be no formal instruction. Pre-registration is required for each session.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations made 14 or more days before class starting date will receive a 100% refund.
  • Cancellations made 7-13 days before class starting date will receive a 50% refund.
  • Students who cancel 6 days or less before class starting date will not receive a refund.
