About Us

Art Gallery of Swift Current is a cultural hub in Southwest Saskatchewan celebrating contemporary art and creativity as crucial aspects of community wellbeing. Our mission is to challenge, inspire, complicate, and connect the diverse perspectives of local communities, both within and beyond our gallery walls.

We present four to five exhibitions per year in our main gallery, showcasing artists working regionally, nationally, and internationally. Exhibitions are supplemented by public tours, artist talks, publications, and an ever-growing video archive. In our satellite space, West Wing Gallery, we host three to four exhibitions of work by local artists, high school students, seniors, and other community groups.

Art Gallery of Swift Current offers a robust arts education program, supporting students of all ages and abilities to learn across a range of artistic media, and our Art Supply Store ensures that local artists are well equipped in their creative endeavours.

Recognizing the importance of preserving cultural heritage, Art Gallery of Swift Current is proud to steward and continue to grow a permanent collection of over 800 artworks. Increasingly, our activities extend beyond the gallery to include public art projects, artist residency opportunities, and unique community-engaged programming.

Our History

AGSC has provided public access to visual art for southwest Saskatchewan since its opening on October 4, 1974. Originally known as the Swift Current National Exhibition Centre, it was one of only three NECs in Saskatchewan. After funding for the SCNEC was discontinued, the City of Swift Current supported a new strategic plan, and in 1997 the organization was renamed Art Gallery of Swift Current to better reflect its association with the city and the communities it serves.
