About Us

The Art Gallery of Swift Current is a creative hub in southwest Saskatchewan, providing high-calibre art exhibitions and cultural experiences to residents and visitors alike. Through exhibitions and public programs and events, AGSC supports artists and audiences to learn, connect, and reflect. AGSC creates opportunities for dialogue in consideration of local, regional, and national cultural contexts, and supports the production of innovative new work, ideas, and research.

We present four to five exhibitions per year in our main gallery at the Art Gallery of Swift Current and another two to three exhibitions per year in our satellite community gallery, known as the West Wing Gallery. Art classes are offered at our dedicated education facility in the Dickson Community Centre.

Our History

AGSC has provided public access to visual art for southwest Saskatchewan since its opening on October 4, 1974. Originally known as the Swift Current National Exhibition Centre, it was one of only three NECs in Saskatchewan. After funding for the SCNEC was discontinued, the City of Swift Current supported a new strategic plan, and in 1997 the organization was renamed Art Gallery of Swift Current to better reflect its association with the city and the communities it serves.

Core services of AGSC include a program of art exhibitions and related interpretation, including guided tours, artist talks, and related publications, media, and materials. A robust studio education program was introduced in 1995 and continues to thrive today via AGSC’s Learning Centre. AGSC also houses a comprehensive Art Supply Store to encourage and enhance the creativity of local artists and makers.
